Rathlin O'Birne Lighthouse

History: The building of Rathlin O'Birne Lighthouse commenced in 1844 but a light was not established until 1856. The current light is a battery powered Pharos PRB46 MkII revolving array, 12V 36W lamps powered by a 500W solar array with 24V 6300 Ah battery. The station was automated on the 30th September 1974.

Light: Fl WR 15s. Nominal Range: White = 18 nautical miles, Red = 14 nautical miles
Radar Beacon: Morse 'O' on vessel's radar display.
Height of Tower: 20 metres.
Height of light above mean high water springs: 35 metres.
