History: Youghal Lighthouse was built in 1190 and was placed under the care of the nuns of St. Anne's convent. The light was discontinued in 1542 when St. Anne's Chapel was dissolved and the tower was taken down in 1848 to make room for the present tower. This tower was lit on the 1st February 1852. The light was converted to acetylene in 1939 and in 1964 it was converted to electric. This white tower has a 500mm cylindrical lens with electric L11 lamps in a LC15 lampchanger.

Height of light above mean high water springs: 15 metres.
